Krokis submits EIS for 500MW, US$1bn wind farm - Chile

(BNamericas.com) - Chilean engineering firm Kas has submitted an EIS for a 500MW, US$1bn wind farm to be constructed in Chile's region IV, according to documents filed with national environmental regulator Conama.
A project spokesperson told BNamericas that Chilean investment group Krokis developed the project but declined to provide additional information.
Pending approval, the Talinay wind farm would use 243 Vestas wind turbines with 2MW and 3MW of capacity each, according to the documents.
The project would be connected to Chile's central SIC grid.
Construction is due to begin in the fourth quarter this year and finish at the end of 2011, according to the documents.
Developers said the project would displace 19Mt of C02 emissions from 2010 through 2024....
