Network1 opens new office - Mexico

Sunday, July 6, 2008

(BNamericas.com) - Brazilian product distributor Network1 International has launched operations in Mexico through an office led by the new general director and partner Ignacio Leñero, InfoChannel reported.

Network1 has offices in São Paulo, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Miami, the headquarters for operations outside Brazil. The firm also recently opened an office in Chile with plans to focus on the growth in the security solutions segment.

"We selected Mexico as our newest subsidiary considering two main points. First of all it is a huge market and secondly, we found a local partner, Ignacio Leñeros, who has a lot of experience and credibility in the market," Network1 International president and CEO Miguel Daud told BNamericas.

Although Daud did not provide any hard figures, he did say Mexico has the potential to become as large as Brazil in a couple of years in terms of contribution to overall sales.

The company's main business units are security, mobility, convergence, VoIP and IP telephony. In Mexico, the company expects to become a value added networking solutions wholesaler.

"Network1 Mexico must be a wholesaler that is known for its quality of services... We can't start with the entire business in Mexico, but we have decided to do it as a value added wholesaler in order to be recognized that way. We will start with the projects unit and then move within the Network1 model, aiming to work with channels," Leñero said in the report.

Initially, Network1 Mexico will distribute products from 3Com, Aruba Networks, SonicWall, TippingPoint and TrippLite.

Commenting on further expansion plans, Daud said: "We are always looking for new opportunities but it is not easy. It is not only a matter of market size; we also need to consider the political and economic environment."...
