Chilean pension fund administrator AFP Planvital engages in investment and collection of member contributions, management of individual capitalization accounts, and provision of life and disability benefits, as well as retirement pensions. Based in Santiago, the company started operations in 1981 under the brand name AFP Magister. During its history, it merged with AFP Futuro (1996), AFP Qualitas (1998) and AFP Aporta Fomenta (2001); it combined operations with AFP Plantival in 2004, adopting the latter's name. Planvital won a tender to receive all new pension program participants from August 1, 2014, to July 31, 2016. AFP Plantival is controlled by Swiss wealth management company BSI S.A., which in 2014 was acquired by Brazilian BTG Pactual from Italian insurer Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A.
