Antofagasta Minerals S.A. is a Chilean mining company that explores for, produces and sells copper and other minerals. The company produces copper concentrate and copper cathodes, gold, silver and molybdenum, and sells its copper and molybdenum concentrates to smelters for processing. It operates the El Tesoro, Los Pelambres, Michilla, Esperanza and Centinela copper mines in Chile. Antofagasta Minerals is controlled by London-based Antofagasta plc, the mining arm of Chile's Luksic group. The company's Encuentro Oxides project at its Centinela mine is scheduled to start production by the end of 2017, while full-year output will be seen the following year. The project is expected to add 50,000t to Antofagasta's production once it enters full capacity. Antofagasta Minerals is also engaged in a series of other projects at its Centinela division, including working towards the debottlenecking at its concentrates unit to increase throughput to 105,000t/d from 86,000t/d.
