Panama's social security fund Caja de Seguro Social (CSS) is responsible for managing the country's social security system. The fund administers the social insurance system and individual account programs. Social insurance covers old age, disability and survivors pension plans, while sickness and maternity benefits are also administered by the CSS. The entity provides services for 84% of Panama's population, and its clients base totals 3 million users. The CSS was created in 1941 and is based in Panama City.
