Brazilian power distributor Companhia Energética do Ceará (Enel Distribuição Ceará), a company controlled by Enel Brasil S.A. (58.9%), with a minority stake held by Enel Américas S.A. (15.2%), serves 4 million consumer units (9 million users) in 184 municipalities in the northeastern state of Ceará. The company has a concession area of 148,921km2 and it owns over 140,000km of distribution lines and 5,127km of transmission lines, with 113 substations. Enel Distribuição Ceará was founded in 1971 and is based in the city of Fortaleza.
