Description

State-run utility Companhia Hidrelétrica do São Francisco S.A. (Chesf), a subsidiary of Brazil's state power holding Electrobras, is engaged in the generation and transmission of electric power in the country's northeastern states. The company operates 12 hydro power plants and a thermal plant with a total installed generation capacity of 10,331MW. It also owns a 20,313km transmission network and 128 substations. In addition, the company participates in 52 companies comprising 4 hydropower plants, 40 wind parks, 7 transmission entities and a construction company. Based in Recife, Pernambuco state, Chesf was founded in 1945.
