Coelba is a Brazilian power company engaged in the distribution, transmission, and sale of electric power in Bahia state. The firm serves more than 5mn clients in a concession area of 563,000km2. It operates a distribution network covering over 244,000km and owns over 8,000km of transmission lines, while present in 415 of the state's 417 municipalities. Founded in 1959 as a state-owned company and privatized in 1997, Coelba is controlled by the Neonergia group, whose shareholders are Caixa de Previdência dos Funcionários do Banco do Brasil (49%), Spanish firm Iberdrola (39%) and Banco do Brasil Investimentos (11.99%).
