Dominican Republic's state power holding company CDEEE guides the strategies, objectives and actions of the country's state-run power companies. Founded in 1995 and based in Santo Domingo, it controls transmission company ETED, power generation firm EGEHID, and distributors Edenorte, Edeste, and Edesur. In 2014, the company received the final environmental license to develop the 752MW Punta Catalina coal-fired thermoelectric project in Peravia province, which is part of a plan to solve the country's energy sector crisis. CDEEE is also developing the Itabo III thermoelectric plant in San Cristóbal province through a PPP with AES Dominicana.
