Venezuelan state gold miner Corporación Venezolana de Guayana Minerven C.A. (Minerven) has three ore processing plants: Planta Perú, with a processing capacity of 450t/d; the 700t/d Caratal, and the 1,500t/d Capitán Eduardo Vera. The plants process ore from the Colombia, Unión and Sosa Méndez mines. The company also controls Block B, which is comprised of the La Laguna, Santa Rita, Panamá and Isidora gold mines, and has the Choco 10 mine. In 2012 the company announced plans to develop the Las Cristinas gold deposit in Bolívar state through a JV with Chinese state-owned Citic Group, following the cancelation of Toronto's Crystallex International's concessions in 2008. Minerven also took over Vancouver-based Rusoro Mining Ltd.'s assets in the country. The company operates as a subsidiary of state heavy industry holding CVG.
