Elektro Eletricidade e Serviços (Elektro) is a Brazilian power distributor that operates in 223 towns in São Paulo state and in five other municipalities in Mato Grosso do Sul state. It serves more than 2mn clients across its 120,000km2 concession area, providing power through a 109,194km distribution network, more than 1,500km of transmission lines, and over 130 substations. Elektro operates under a 30-year concession contract signed in 1998. Based in Campinas, São Paulo state, Elektro was formed in 1998 after the privatization of Companhia Energética de São Paulo's distribution service. The company was acquired in 2008 by Spain's Iberdrola from its former controller, US-based Ashmore Energy International (AEI)
