Brazilian telecom operator Embratel Participações, through subsidiary Embratel, provides long-distance telephony, data transmission, television and internet services, as well as satellite solutions. In 2013, its controller, Mexican telecomunications group America Móvil, started a restructuring process to merge the operations of Embratel Participações, Empresa Brasileira de Telecomunicações, and Net Serviços de Comunicação into its Brazilian subsidiary Claro. As a result, Claro took its rights and obligations, including all concessions and permits issued by Brazilian telecom watchdog Anatel.
