Bolivian state power company Empresa Nacional de Electricidad S.A. (Ende) engages in the generation, transmission and distribution of electric power through subsidiaries Elfeosa, Cadeb, TDE, Delapaz and Guaracachi, among others. Ende also controls Empresa Elétrica Corani S.A., which operates the 54MW Corani and 94MW Santa Isabel hydroelectric plants. The utility was founded in 1962 and is based in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Increasing power demand in Bolivia has coincided with advancement of its 400MW Rositas hydroelectric project planned for Santa Cruz department. Ende also issued a call for expressions of interest to identify possible sites for the 1.6GW El Bala project, and launched an international call for bids to carry out the transmission component of a hydroelectric project in Cochabamba department. The company seeks contractors to design, supply and install substations and lines of the 124MW San José complex.
