Founded in 1981, Argentina's Neuquén province power utility Ente Provincial de Energía del Neuquén (Epen) carries out studies and develops projects; and manages and operates transmission lines and networks, as well as transformer stations and distribution networks, providing power generation. It also negotiates energy purchase and sales agreements. In 2015, Epen announced it was planning to build a 20MW solar park in the Chos Malal district. The Antu Newen I project will comprise 66,880 solar panels. Once operational, it is expected to generate enough power to supply 12,000 local homes. Argentina's wholesale market administrator Cammesa is expected to purchase the power output.
