El Salvador's LaGeo is a geothermal power generation firm. The output of its two geothermal plants is the equivalent of 24% of national consumption. The Ahuachapán facility, located in the namesake municipality, has an installed capacity of 95MW and started operations in 1975, while its Berlin plant, in Alegría municipality, has an installed capacity of 109.4MW and came online in 1992. The firm is also involved in the development of the San Vicente and Chinameca fields, where it is conducting studies to identify areas with geothermal generation potential for the construction of new power plants. LaGeo was founded in 1999 and is based in Santa Tecla.
