Magnesita Refratários is a Brazilian company engaged in the production and supply of refractory materials for steel and cement industrial sectors in South America, North America, Europe and Asia. It sells its products to such conglomerates as ArcelorMittal, Usiminas, Gerdau and Votorantim. The company's mineral resource division sells talc, caustic magnesia, some other lower added value products and magnesite sinter, a product which is dependent on domestic demand. In addition, Magnesita currently has 88 licenses for mineral exploration and another 200 applications at the country's minerals production department DNPM. Magnesita Refratários was founded in 1939 and is headquartered in Contagem in Brazil's Minas Gerais state. Magnesita is present worldwide, with units in 4 continents, with 28 plants and mining activities in Brazil, Argentina, USA, Germany, Belgium, France, Taiwan and China.
