Description

Costa Rica's transport and public works ministry (MOPT) was established in 1860 for the planning, coordination, regulation, control and inspection of the transport sector. Headquartered in San José, in 2017 MOPT inaugurated the Alfredo González Flores bridge over the Virilla River for US$13mn, began remodeling of Route 32 which connects the Caribbean with San José and is planning the construction of the new 1,200ha Orotina airport in Alajuela province. English engineering company Mott MacDonald is conducting the study for the latter project.
