Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes

Company Detail

Description

Costa Rica's transport and public works (MOPT) ministry is the government entity responsible for sector planning, coordination, regulation, control and supervision. MOPT is also in charge of the execution of infrastructure projects such as the rehabilitation and expansion of the highway corridor between San José and San Ramón; the expansion of the Ruta 32 highway which connects the provinces of Limón and San José; and the Arco Norte highway, whose first phase calls for the construction of a 3.9km stretch between La Uruca and the interconnection with highway 32. A government body that later became the current ministry was formed in 1860 on account of the growing importance of the area of public infrastructure in the country.
