The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) is a state-owned corporation engaged in the purchase, compression, transportation, sale and distribution of natural gas to industrial users. The company owns, maintains and operates the country's 1000km transmission and distribution pipeline network, which comprises both offshore and onshore segments. In addition, NGC enjoys a monopoly position in the wholesale transmission and distribution of natural gas for Trinidad's petrochemicals and power generation sectors. NGC's transportation capacity is 4.4Bf3/d. Through its different subsidiaries, the company also operates in the upstream and downstream sectors of the energy industry, such as ports and infrastructure construction and the production of LNG and natural gas liquids, as well as oil and gas exploration. NGC was founded in 1975 and is headquartered in Couva.
