Mexico's federal district (DF) water operator Sacmex, operating under the authority of the country's environment ministry Semarnat, has the mission to provide potable water, drainage, sewerage, wastewater treatment and water reuse services. It is responsible for the operation, maintenance and construction of hydraulic infrastructure; the exploration, development, use, distribution and control of water resources; and the preservation of water levels and water quality – thus working to ensure the integrated and sustainable development of Mexico City's water resources.
