Brazilian rail transport company Transnordestina Logística (TLSA), a subsidiary of local steelmaker CSN, is responsible for construction of the northeastern Brazil's Transnordestina railroad, a 1,728km line that will connect Eliseu Martins, in Piauí state, with the port of Pecém in Ceará state and Suape port in Pernambuco state. Once completed, it will transport commodities such as iron ore, soybean, fertilizer, and gypsum. Transnordestina Logistica was founded in 1998 and is based in Fortaleza in Brazil's Ceará state. The concession was granted in 1997 and was extended until 2057 or the date when TLSA reaches a rate of annual return of 6.75% of its total investment.
