Codelco's División Gabriela Mistral (DGM) operates the 119,000t/y Gaby copper cathode mine by the same name located in Chile's region II. Commissioned in May 2008, DGM's operation is highlighted by the use of innovative technologies such as renewable energy and autonomous vehicles. Furthermore, the company contemplates extracting 584Mt of ore grading 0.41% copper over 15 years. In 2013, Codelco inaugurated the thermosolar plant, Pampa Elvira Solar, which provides 80% of the power need for the division's SX-EW copper plant and thereby, reducing the Gabriela Mistral mine's CO2 emissions.
