The Brazilian software association aims to develop, promote and protect the country's software industry through legal, training and marketing advisory services. Founded in 1986, it has over 1,500 members in the country. In 2014, together with Brazilian economic and social development bank BNDES, it began offering MPME Inovadora, a credit line for small and medium-sized companies engaged in innovation in the IT sector. Abes is also engaged in the protection of intellectual property through the enforcement of anti-piracy laws. In this context, in 2012 a software piracy complaints website www.denunciepirataria.org.br was launched.
