Aecom also provides program and facilities management and maintenance, training, logistics, security and other support services, primarily for US government agencies. Incorporated in 1980 as Ashland Technology Co., and based in Los Angeles, the company has regional offices in Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela. In 2014, Aecom acquired rival San Francisco-based URS Corp., which offers a range of project management, engineering and construction services, and has expertise in energy. URS designs, builds, modifies and maintains power plants and electricity grid equipment.
