Brazilian electricity distributor Eletropaulo Metropolitana Eletricidade de São Paulo S.A. (AES Eletropaulo) operates as a subsidiary of AES Brasil, the local unit of US-based energy group AES Corp. The company has a concession area which covers 24 cities of the metropolitan region of São Paulo and includes around 6.9mn customer units. It operates through a network of 152 substations with an installed capacity of 14,275MVA covering an area of 4,526km2. The firm supplies 34% of the power consumed in the state, including urban and rural regions, serving 20.1mn people. In addition, it distributes 44,237GWh of energy to the captive market and free customers. Its assets include more than 43,000km of distribution and transmission lines and over 208,000 distribution transformers. AES Eletropaulo is based in Barueri, Brazil.
