Emgesa S.A. E.S.P. is a Colombian company engaged in power generation for the wholesale market and industrial clients from the deregulated market. The company was incorporated in 1997 and has 11 hydro- and two thermal power plants, located in the departments of Cundinamarca, Huila and Bolívar, with 3,469MW installed capacity, accounting for 22% of the country's total. The company's largest generator is the 1,22MW Guavio hydropower facility. The Bogotá-based company is indirectly controlled by Enel S.p.A., through Endesa's subsidiary Enersis Americas and Endesa Americas, which together control Emgesa and have a 48.5% economic interest in the company and 56.5% of voting rights. Empresa de Energia de Bogota S.A. ESP, meanwhile, has 51.5% of economic rights and 43.6% of voting rights. Emgesa also holds 94.95% interest in Sociedad Portuaria Central Cartagena (SPCC), which was awarded the concession to build and operate a hydrocarbon port in Cartagena municipality, and owns 100% of Emgesa Panamá, which engages in electric power import and export in Panama.
