Description:

Schwager S.A. is a Chilean environmental solutions provider operating in the mining services and renewable energy business segments. The Santiago-based company provides a range of services to the mining sector, including mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance, major repairs and management system overhauls. It is also focused on strengthening its position in the non-conventional renewable energy market. Schwager Energy's projects include the 20MW Chaka PV plant in northern Chile's Atacama region (III), which injects 60GWh/y into the central SIC grid. In addition, it has plans to develop the Condor run-of-the-river hydroelectric power project in central-southern Araucanía region (IX), which would have an installed capacity of 5.4MW and inject 20GWh/y into Chile's central SIC power grid. In 2011, the company signed a partnership agreement with local forestry company Asesorias Forestal de Chile Ltda. (Afodech) to build and operate two mini hydroelectric power plants. The partners set up a company, Sociedad Los Pinos SpA, to build and operate the plants, planned to be located in Llanquihue province, central Los Lagos region (X). Schwager and Afodech, owned by local businessman Alex Ziller, hold 50% stake in the company each. Schwager will finance the engineering, basic and environmental studies for the construction of the plants.
