Mexico's commission for efficient energy use (Conuee) is a decentralized government body operating under the Energy ministry and tasked with promoting and providing technical assistance for the efficient use of energy. Conuee was established in 2008 as the successor of the National Energy Saving Commission (Conae), which had been operating since 1989. Conuee is also responsible for proposing energy efficiency targets and programs to ensure compliance, issuing the country's official guidelines related to energy efficiency, keeping a register of entities certified as energy efficient, and promoting scientific and technical research in the area, among others. The department is based in Mexico City.
