Description:

Founded in 1995, Energía Austral SpA is a Chilean hydroelectric power generation company and a joint venture between Swiss group Glencore (66%) and Australian integrated energy company Origin Energy (34%). The company is currently developing the Cuervo hydro power plant, in Aysén region (XI), together with a power transmission system to connect the plant to Chile's Central Interconnected System (SIC). The power plant's installed capacity will be approximately 640MW, and the reservoir will be comprised of two dams, located on the Cuervo river. Energía Austral is headquartered in Santiago, with offices in Puerto Aysen and Coyhaique.
