Ericsson Telecomunicações S.A. (Ericsson Brazil), headquartered in São Paulo and with an office in Rio de Janeiro, is the Brazilian branch of Ericsson, a global corporation that offers ICTs to service providers. Ericsson Brazil owns a manufacturing plant in São Jose dos Campos operating since 1955, aimed at assembling transmission equipment and telecommunications solutions based on 2G, 3G and 4G/LTE technologies. The company also has a research and development unit in Indaiatuba, where it has developed over 95 patents with and investment of over US$1bn since 2003. In 2017, Ericsson Brazil started producing the new NGR 4415 model, a MIMO radio system that supports GSM, WCDMA and LTE technologies, in preparation for the introduction of the new 5G network; and also plans to implement massive IoT solutions in the agriculture, vehicle, and asset tracking sectors, as well as smart cities, together with Qualcomm Technologies.
