Description

Fundación Chile is a private corporation formed in 1976 by the Chilean government and BHP Billiton-Minera Escondida. It is engaged in developing projects to promote innovation in areas such as food, biotechnology, aquaculture, water and environment, energy and climate change and education. One of its major projects is Aquatacama, which involves building a 1,600km submarine water pipeline to transport water from rivers in central Chile's Maule region (VII) to northern Antofagasta region (II).
