Description

The Panamanian Maritime Authority (Autoridad Marítima de Panamá, AMP) is an independent organization established by Decree-Law Nº7 in February 1998, and directed by an administrator appointed by the President of the Republic of Panama. All of the maritime competences subjected to Public Administration were unified under the AMP, whose functions include the management, promotion, regulation and execution of strategies, regulations and programs related to the functioning and development of the sector; the coordination and execution of the Maritime National Strategy; the protection of national maritime interest; the compliance with international agreements; and other relative tasks.
