Empresa de Transporte de Pasajeros Metro S.A. (Metro) is a Chilean state-owned mass transport firm responsible for managing Santiago's subway system. Metro transports more than 2.5mn/d passengers and has five lines (lines 1, 2, 4, 4A and 5), comprising 108 stations and 104km of track. The network will be expanded with the addition of two new lines: No. 6, that will run 15.3km across the capital from centrally located Providencia to Cerrillos in the west, and the No. 3 line, that will be 22km long, with 18 stations between Ñuñoa in eastern Santiago and Huechuraba in the north of the capital. The subway system is operating at full capacity after seeing its number of passengers nearly triple in the last decade.
