Description:
The Chilean holding Grupo Empresas Navieras S.A. (GEN), founded in 1983 in Valparaíso and member of the Urenda Group, is an investment society aimed at the global maritime transport, shipping agency, cargo services, representations of maritime and air transport operators, investor on port and airport infrastructure, land and floating equipment, land transport, and storage and distribution of products, among other transport and cargo services. GEN controls its direct branches Compañía Marítima Chilena S.A. (CMC), Agencias Universales S.A. (Agunsa), and Portuaria Cabo Froward S.A. (Froward), through which it participates in other national or foreign societies totalizing over a 100 firms. In Chile, GEN participates in Antofagasta Terminal Internacional S.A. (ATI), Terminal Puerto Arica S.A. (TPA), and Iquique Terminal Internacional S.A. (ITI); and in 2011 it was allocated a 30-year concession of the Sociedad Talcahuano Terminal Portuario (TTP), controlling its 99.9%.
