US-based crop nutrition firm, The Mosaic Company, is a global integrated producer and marketer of potash and concentrated phosphate. The company produces phosphate-based and potash-based ingredients for animal feed, and crop nutrients; as well as potash industrial products. In Latin America, Mosaic owns a 35% interest in a joint venture owner of the Miski Mayo phosphate rock mine, located in Peru. Additionally, Canpotex, a JV made up of Mosaic, Agrium and PotashCorp, is tasked with the international distribution for the company's products, through a network of sales offices, fertilizer blending and packaging facilities, port terminals and warehouses in Brazil and Paraguay. The Mosaic Company has an annual capacity of 10.5MT of potash, 5.3MT of phosphoric acid and 17.2MT of phosphate rock in the US. The company entered into an agreement to acquire Vale Fertilizantes S.A., which is expected to be completed by the end of 2017, increasing Mosaic's interest in Miski Mayo by 40%. Mosaic was formed in 2004 through the merger of IMC Global Inc. and Cargill's crop nutrition fertilizer businesses. Its headquarters are located in Minnesota.
