Peru's ministry of foreign affairs is the ministry that handles the country's foreign relations. In 2013, the ministry launched a call for tenders for the construction of the binational border service center Desaguadero, in Puno region. The initiative is part of Peru's Desaguadero border crossing project, being financed with an IDB loan. The center will provide immigration control services between Peru and Bolivia, including all institutional controls of each country for the migration of passengers and cargo. The initiative includes civil works, a sewage treatment plant, installation of elevators, heating and access roads, among others.
