Description

Uruguay's Ministry of Housing, Land and Environment, MVOTMA, was established in 1990, and is responsible for designing public policies on housing, environment, land and water. It is tasked with the Environmental Impact Assessment of projects submitted by the industry and their authorization; it is responsible for the design and implementation of housing programs, the implementation of potable water service projects, such as the Casupa dam; and water treatment initiatives, such as the Maldonado-Punta del Este sanitation plan, which included the construction of an Effluent Treatment Plant.
