Description

Andes Petroleum Ecuador Ltd. is an oil exploration and production consortium created by Chinese state-owned companies China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC, 55%) and China Petrochemical Corp. (Sinopec, 45%) in 2006. The Quito-based firm operates in Tarapoa block and transfer and storage station Lago Agrio, both located in Sucumbíos province. The company's subsidiary, PetroOriental S.A., operates blocks 14 and 17, located in Orellana and Pastaza, respectively. In 2016, the consortium entered two exploration and production contracts with Ecuadorian government for a four-year period, renewable for up to two years, to provide services in blocks 79 and 83, located in Pastaza province.
