Consorcio Shell Exploración y Extracción de México - Pemex Exploración y Producción (Consorcio Shell - Pemex) is a hydrocarbon exploration and production society created in the City of Mexico in 2018 by the said branches of the British oil company Royal Dutch Shell plc and of the local firm Petróleos Mexicanos S.A. de C.V. to identify, evaluate and develops oil and gas projects in Mexico. Consorcio Shell - Pemex owns and explores the Area 35 (798 km2) to extract extra heavy oil in the Southeastern basins (Pilar Reforma - Akal) and the Area 2 (2,146 km2) to extract light oil from deep sea (Perdido) in the Gulf of Mexico.
