Repsol S.A. is a global energy company engaged in oil and gas upstream and downstream operations. The company has upstream oil and gas operations in 31 countries, such as Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela and Colombia. Its downstream activities include the supply and trading of crude oils and products, oil refining, the marketing of petroleum products, the distribution and marketing of LPG, the production and marketing of chemical products and the development of new energy solutions. The bulk of its assets were formerly located in Argentina as a result of the 1999 takeover of Argentine energy firm YPF S.A. by the company. In 2012 Argentina's government grabbed a majority stake in YPF; Repsol now holds a 12.4% share. In Peru, the company operates the La Pampilla refinery, which has a total refining capacity of 102,000b/d and handles over half the country's total production of refined products. In 2015 it completed the acquisition of Canadian firm Talisman Energy Inc. Repsol was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Madrid, Spain.
