Red Eléctrica Internacional S.A.U. (REI) is an electric power company that manages the Latin American assets of its parent company, Spain's Red Eléctrica Corporación, particularly in Peru and Chile. Through its subsidiaries, the company engages in the construction, operation, and maintenance of power transmission networks. In Peru, REI directly owns 100% of Red Eléctrica del Sur (Redesur) and Red Eléctrica Andina (REA). Through Redesur, the holding company also controls Transmisora Eléctrica del Sur and Transmisora Eléctrica del Sur 2 and 3. The company manages a network of 1,186km in the country, 942km are currently in operation, and 244km under construction. In Chile, it owns 100% of Red Eléctrica Chile SpA, through which it holds 50% stake in Transmisora Eléctrica del Norte (TEN). The latter is currently developing the Mejillones-Cardones transmission line, which will connect the country's Central Interconnected System (SIC) and the Northern Interconnected System (SING) by late 2017. REI was incorporated in 2001 and is based in Madrid.
