SoWiTec de México Energías Renovables S. de R.L. de C.V. (SoWiTec México) develops and manages wind power generation projects and is the local unit of German wind farms developer SoWiTec. Since its establishment, Mexico's SoWiTec has developed several wind farms in Mexico in the states of Sonora, Coahuila, Aguascalientes, Tamaulipas and Veracruz. In 2015, the firm announced the permits to build the 246MW El Mezquite II wind farm in the state of Nuevo León. In the same year, it started to develop the Palo Alto wind farm in Jalisco state. The company's other projects in Mexico include the Tapetate and Carabina II wind parks. As part of México's efforts to renew its power matrix by using clean energies, SoWitec was awarded a contract to develop the La Amistad wind farm near Ciudad de Acuña. The company is based in Ciudad de Mexico and has been operating in the country since 2008.
