British Vodafone is a multinational mobile telecommunications company that offers voice and data communications services, with presence in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, primarily. The company has interests in around 30 countries and partner networks in other 50 nations. In Latin America, Vodafone operates through partnerships in Brazil and Chile. In 2013, it entered the Brazilian market through an MVNO agreement with telecom company Datora Telecom, which was later rebranded as Vodafone Brasil. In Chile, it has a strategic alliance with national mobile operator Entel and in 2016, it was granted a telephony license which it will use to offer internet of things (IoT) services to corporate clients. Globally, Vodafone currently offers a range of end-to-end IoT solutions using a global SIM card with services such as telematics. The company also enables devices such as fridges and storage devices to report location and inventory in real time. Other offerings include smart grid solutions for utilities aimed at reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption; monitoring of devices such as heart monitors and vending machines; and asset management and vehicle tracking.
