Colombian bank AV Villas registered 1.56mn mobile banking transactions in the first five months of the year, a 258% jump compared to the same period last year, local paper El Espectador reported.
The financial institution offers mobile banking service through partnerships with mobile operators Movistar, Comcel and Tigo.
Through the service, AV Villas' customers can make payments, transfers and requests for information.
Spanish messaging platform supplier Latinia business development manager Francesc Pérez previously told BNamericas that banks around Latin America continue to show interest in mobile banking, but acknowledged that the market is not as mature as previously thought.
The executive also said countries such as Mexico, Colombia and Brazil present strong opportunities in this segment due to their size.
