Brief: Argentina seeks debit card rule change
Argentina's internal revenue service Afip wants to oblige merchants to accept at least two types of debit card, local paper El Cronista reported, citing Afip chief Leandro Cuccioli.
Many merchants currently only accept one kind, it said, adding that Afip also wants to push other payment methods such as the QR code.
Afip officials are working on associated regulations.
This year the revenue service ordered all Afip-registered merchants and service providers to accept cards as a form of payment.
