Global money transfer company MoneyGram (NYSE: MGI) has signed an agreement with Chile's postal system CorreosChile to offer international money transfer services at the firm's more than 200 branches located up and down the country. "We are very pleased that CorreosChile made the decision to move to MoneyGram after working with a competitor for many years," Pedro Saro Campos, MoneyGram's VP for Latin America said in a press release. According to information posted on CorreosChile's website, the firm has an alliance with Western Union (NYSE: WU). The combination of MoneyGram's strong global network and the even distribution of CorreosChile locations throughout the country will make sending and receiving money convenient for Chileans, said Pablo Montano, general manager of CorreosChile. "It is very important to our customers living in urban or rural locations in Chile to be able to easily send and receive money around the world." MoneyGram's growth strategy includes aligning with post offices to provide consumers with access to reliable and affordable money transfer services close to where they live and work. The agreement with CorreosChile brings the number of postal systems globally through which MoneyGram offers its money transfer services to 30. Currently, MoneyGram has postal relationships in countries such as Canada, Jamaica, India, Italy, Morocco, Poland, Ukraine and the UK.
