Five foreign banks enter international banking center in 2010

Panama's international banking center saw five new foreign banks enter last year, according to statistics from banking regulator SBP.

A total of 93 banks were in the center at the end of last year. The country also has two state banks.

SBP has said that this year it will seek to attract some of the largest banks in Latin America to its shores, especially the biggest Brazilian banks.
