Thursday, January 13, 2011

Marcio Holland de Brito has been announced as the new economic policy secretary at the Brazilian finance ministry, according to a release that noted his research on Basel II and credit risk at local banks.

Holland replaces Nelson Barbosa, now the executive secretary at the ministry, which has proven to be of special importance to banks and the financial sector, given the above 40% market share that public sector banks have in the country, as well as other economic policy measures it has implemented on issues that include export credit guarantees and surety bond provision.
