UK IT services firm Logica has launched application management, enhancement and support service Ames, focused on the financial sector, according to news site Baguete.

The financial services sector has been and will continue to be the company's growth driver the next two years, both globally and in Brazil, according to Paulo Martins, the company's managing director for financial and services industries in South America.

This new offer is part of the business transformation concept that the company has been applying globally for the banking, insurance and financial institutions industry.

"Ames focuses on innovation in business aspects for customers. We have adopted the opposite direction traditionally taken in the market, which focuses on technology, without immediate benefits related to the core business of companies," the executive added.

Logica has more than 3,200 professionals for this segment. The firm also offers consulting services, system integration and IT outsourcing to South American clients through its offices in Brazil.

Logica is seeing increasing business opportunities in several verticals, including energy, utilities, financing, manufacturing, transport and telecommunications, BNamericas previously reported.

The company, which works with global partners such as SAP (NYSE: SAP), Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), employs 39,000 workers across 36 countries.

Last month it announced the acquisition of Spanish systems integrator Gesfor to expand business in a new geographic area, particularly in the Iberian cluster, as well as some Latin American countries.
