Remittance growth slows to 0.65% in March

Growth in remittances to Nicaragua slowed to 0.65% in March compared with the same month in 2010, according to the latest figures from central bank BCN.

Nicaraguans abroad sent home US$77.5mn during the month, compared with US$77mn in March 2010. The figure was up 11.8% from February, although remittances in that month rose 8.11% year-on-year.

Overall for the first three months of the year, remittances to Nicaragua were up 6.14% to US$214mn, BCN figures show.
