Visa transaction volume in Latin America up 26.2% in 12 months to June

Card payments giant Visa (NYSE: V) saw a 26.2% increase in payment volume in Latin America and the Caribbean in the 12 months to June, reaching US$313bn.

The number of transactions with Visa-branded credit and debit cards rose 24% and 29%, respectively, in the same period.

The transition from cash to electronic payment in Latin America and the Caribbean is still developing, making the region an important business area for Visa, company regional executive Eduardo Eraña said in a statement.
